setting thread number for cortical surface extration

  My iMAC has 8 cores, but cortical_extraction uses only 4 cores.
  How can I increase the usage of cores in GUI and commandline?

  I’am sorry, my iMAC has physical 4 cores.
  
  When I ran cortical extraction in my new Centos 7 workstation (Xeon dual CPU 24 physical cores),
  cortical extraction used only one core. Can I increased the core number up t0 24?
