The plant Cuminum cyminum, which belongs to the same family as its relatives fennel, parsley, and caraway, is the source of cumin seeds. It is said that cumin originated in the Nile region of Egypt and swiftly expanded throughout the eastern Mediterranean and southwest central Asia.

A necessary spice for Indian chutneys and curries is cumin. The spice is also a great addition to many rice dishes, pickles, stews, soups, breads, and chili con carne recipes. When using cumin in cooking, it’s recommended to use moderation since the spice may quickly overpower a meal. Later on, you may always add more.
